Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has said he phoned Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest forward Taiwo Awoniyi on the birth of his second child with his wife, Taiye Jesudun.
Awoniyi’s baby boy was born on Saturday, August 12.
Awoniyi, 26, had a memorable birthday celebration as he came off the bench and pulled one back for Nottingham Forest in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in Saturday’s Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium.
The goal saw him equal a 28-year-old record, becoming the only second Nottingham Forest player to score in five consecutive Premier League appearances since Stan Collymore did in 1995.

Saraki, an Arsenal FC supporter, tweeted on Sunday evening, saying he spoke with Awoniyi on phone to congratulate him on the birth of his child and the goal.
“Just got off the phone with @TaiwoAwoniyi18. I called to congratulate him and his wife on the arrival of their new baby boy. I’m happy to hear both mother and baby doing well. 🙏🏽
“I also congratulated him on the goal that he scored yesterday at the Emirates. Thank God it was just one goal!” he wrote.
Saraki and Awoniyi are both natives of Kwara State.
Awoniyi and his wife welcomed their first child Emmanuel on October 16, 2020, two years after the duo walked down the aisle in June 2018.
