Nigeria’s late ambassador to France Kayode Laro has been buried at his residence in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
Laro’s body arrived at General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin on Wednesday.
The diplomat died on Friday, August 11 in Paris, France after a protracted illness.
The casket bearing the late ambassador’s remains was draped in the nation’s green and white colours as a mark of honour for his service to Nigeria. It was flown into the state with a Nigerian Air Force plane.
Laro was buried according to Islamic rites.

Chief Imam of Ilorin Sheikh Mohammed Salihu led the funeral prayer.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq was present at the funeral procession. Others present were Nigeria’s ambassador to France (economic and consular affairs), Muazam Nayaya; deputy head of mission, France, Tunde Mustapha; and the AbdulRazaq family of Ilorin led by the governor’s elder brother and Mutawalle of Ilorin, Alimi AbdulRazaq.
The governor, in a condolence message, described Laro’s death as shocking and prayed to Allah to forgive him and grant him eternal rest.
