Singer Naira Marley on Thursday paid a visit to the national headquarters of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to declare his support for the war against drug abuse.
The musician, accompanied by Sam Larry, Dami Marshal and Chuddy Naira, met with NDLEA chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (retd).
Naira Marley and his friends posed for photos with Marwa and NDLEA’S director of media and advocacy, Femi Babafemi.
Mr Babafemi shared photos of the ‘Opotoyi’ singer’s visit on X.
“See who’s on board @ndlea_nigeria war against drug abuse, WADA, advocacy campaign; it’s your fav, Naira Marley,” he wrote.
In a video made available to QEDNG, Naira Marley said, “I would like to urge my fans, the Marlians, and all the Nigerian youths to stop doing drugs because it’s not good for your well-being. Let us stop substance abuse in any form. I’ve keyed into this campaign to support NDLEA to stop drugs on the streets. Please join us.”
In 2019, Naira Marley, born Azeez Fashola, said he does not do drugs but smokes weed.
“I smoke loud. I don’t do drugs,” the 32-year-old said.
‘Loud’ is a slang for potent weed. The term comes from the fact that the variant has a strong smell.
Naira Marley wrote again advising fans against drug abuse.
“Marlians don’t do drugs,” he said, “unless it’s prescribed.”
