World record holder Tobi Amusan on Tuesday won heat five to reach the women’s 100m hurdles semi-final at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The Nigerian ran a time of 12.48 seconds to come first in the heat, with Megan Tapper coming second in a time of 12.51 seconds.
Australia’s Michelle Jenneke placed third with a time of 12.71 seconds, while Natalia Christofi came fourth in 12.90 seconds.

Amusan, the world, Commonwealth and African champion in the 100m hurdles, will attempt to reach the final of the tournament on Wednesday.
This comes after a tribunal ruled that she did not violate the whereabouts rules following her suspension and charge by the Athletics Integrity Unit.
Last year, Amusan became the first ever Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event when she won the World Championships 100 m hurdles gold medal, setting the current world record of 12.12 seconds (+0.9m/s) in the semi-final.
