Senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) Matthew Ashimolowo has bought 1,000 bags of Eko Rice from Lagos State Government ahead of what he describes as Africa’s biggest rural crusade.
The clergyman also purchased 1,000 bags of beans and two stand-by power generators.
Ashimolowo bought the items through the Christ Compassion for Rural World (CCRW) Foundation.
On Wednesday, he shared a video on Instagram of the items kept in a store, adding that more would come. The outreach will take place from November 6 to 10, 2023.
“Food necessities being readied for CCRW mission holding 6th -10th of Nov. 1000 bags of Eko Rice and 1000 bags of beans (more to come). Our Generators have been procured as well. Be part of this massive initiative,” he wrote.
Ashimolowo revealed that the Lagos State Government took out N2,000 from each of the 1,000 bags of Eko Rice, thanking the government for the gesture.

Ashimolowo was recently rumoured to be considering retirement to focus on real estate.
But the national superintendent and resident pastor of KICC Pastor Femi Faseru debunked the claims.
Faseru said in a statement on Tuesday, August 15 that the 71-year-old still preaches between three and four times every week all over the world.
Faseru said Ashimolowo is taking on fresh challenges and has only just established another independent ministry. He said the pastor does nine services weekly, including Sunday services.
Part of the statement said, “There is no iota of truth in the insinuation that Ashimolowo may have quit preaching the gospel to concentrate on real estate business.”
