Chairmen of local governments in Ogun State have apologised to Governor Dapo Abiodun over allegations of diversion of funds made against him by one of them, Wale Adedayo.
Adedayo had written to former governor Olusegun Osoba, claiming the governor diverted statutory federal allocation due to the state’s local governments in the last two years.
Chairman of Ijebu-Ode LGA Emilola Gazal led other members of the Association of Local Government Chairmen (ALGON), Ogun State Chapter to meet with Abiodun at the governor’s office in Oke-Mosan on Tuesday.
In a video shared on Facebook, Gazal, along with other members, appealed for forgiveness and were seen prostrating and begging the governor.

In the video, Gazal, speaking in a mixture of English and Yoruba said in part, “We have come here to beg you as a father that you are, as the father of all in this place, Your Excellency, please forgive us.
“Your Excellency sir, if you don’t forgive us, who would we go and meet? On behalf of all of us, I am tendering this apology and in particular, on behalf of Wale Adedayo, Your Excellency forgive us.”
Responding, Abiodun said, “God knows that this job I am doing it with every iota of sincerity of purpose in me. I will continue to ensure that I am guided by all the promises that I made in the course of my journey to the governor’s office.”
