Singer Ireoluwa Oladimeji, popularly known as Mohbad, has died.
The 27-year-old’s death was confirmed by music promoter Ovie on Tuesday via X (formerly Twitter).
YBNL music executive and singer, Olamide, also confirmed Mohbad’s death via his X handle.
“Damn ! Mohbad,” he wrote.
The cause of death is yet to be revealed.
Singer Bella Shmurda, in an interview with Chude Jideonwo on January 7, 2023, said that Mohbad had attempted suicide after his issues with former boss at Marlian Music, Naira Marley.
“At a point, myself and Mohbad were in an apartment, and he said he wanted to jump from upstairs,” he said.
Bella Shmurda added that Mohbad’s attempt to take his own life was thwarted by his girlfriend who got in just in time.
“You can’t just keep going under and these people are just forming there’s nothing happening. Something is happening, and it is going to the extreme,” he spoke further.

Mohbad terminated his contract with Marlian Music in October 2022, alleging assault and failure to pay royalties among others.
On October 5 2022, Mohbad took to X claiming he was assaulted by the label’s team after he demanded a change of manager.
“Just because I want to change my manager which is their brother, see what they did to me at Marlian House,” he wrote.
Mohbad is best known for his hit singles ‘Ponmo’, ‘Feel Good’, and ‘KPK (Ko Por Ke)’ with Rexxie which was nominated three times for The Headies awards in 2022.
