Big Brother Naija reality star turned actor Tobi Bakre has celebrated winning the best lead actor award at the 2023 Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA).
The 19th edition of the award took place on Sunday at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Ikeja, Lagos. The awards gala celebrated the best of African cinema, with filmmakers, actors and other film practitioners from across the globe converging under the same roof.
Tobi won for his role in Brotherhood, winning against the likes of Richard Mofe Damijo who was nominated for 4-4-44, Marc Zinga for DRC, Febabdo Kamugisha for The Fallen Advocate, Justine Murichii for Shimoni and Mike Danon for Sira.
In an appreciation message penned via Instagram on Monday, the father of one thanked everyone who has been a part of his journey.

Actress Nse Ikpe-Etim also won for her role in Izu Ojukwu’s 4-4-44, making her the first Nigerian actress to win the best actress in a leading role category after Sola Sobowale won for King of Boys in 2019.
