The Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the November 11 election in Kogi State Dino Melaye has said he would not challenge the electoral victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the election petition tribunal.
APC candidate Usman Ododo won the election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ododo polled a total votes of 446,237 to defeat his closest challenger, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who scored 259,052 votes, while the candidate of the PDP Melaye came third with 46,362 votes.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, Melaye alleged that the judiciary is no longer independent but a department of the APC.

He stated, “Judiciary is no longer the last hope of the ordinary people, it is now a department under the All Progressives Congress.
“Why should any responsible person go to the tribunal when the APC have captured the judiciary? I have lost complete confidence in the judiciary.”
During the election, Melaye made several allegations against INEC, saying the electoral body had been compromised.
He also published on social media papers which he claimed were election result sheets in favour of the APC even before voting was over, calling the election a sham.
