The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Thursday struck out the application by the Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Olamide Oladiji and other lawmakers seeking the impeachment of Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The case was dismissed after the lawmakers withdrew their application in the “interest of peace.”
President Bola Tinubu recently met with the lawmakers, Aiyedatiwa and some other stakeholders in Ondo politics over the misunderstanding between ailing governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy Aiyedatiwa. The meeting led to a resolution for all parties to maintain status quo.
The Speaker’s legal team led by Remi Peter told the appellate court that parties to the impeachment dispute “have found political solution to their problems.”

“On behalf of the appellants, we are here to withdraw this appeal. The instruction to this effect was given to us yesterday (Wednesday) and we have filed this morning the notice of withdrawal.
“In the interest of peace, we seek to withdraw this appeal,” he said.
The case got to the appellate court after the lawmakers filed an application seeking to set aside an interim injunction by a Federal High Court in Akure preventing impeachment proceedings against the deputy governor following Akeredolu’s prolonged absence on medical grounds.
Justice Haruna Tsammani led the panel at the appellate court which dismissed the application.
