The management of singer Spyro has defended his decision to perform his hit song ‘Only Fine Girl’ at the Harvesters International Gospel Centre.
Spyro had faced backlash for performing the song during a drama presentation at the carol service on Sunday.
Responding to the criticism in a post on his X account on Monday, Spyro clarified that he has the right to serve and worship God just like any other members despite being a celebrity.
Spyro wrote, “Just saw myself and Pastor Bolaji has been getting dragged because I did a drama ministration in church. Let me make something very clear.
“I have been a member of Harvesters for over 7 years, and I serve in two departments. The video making rounds on the internet is off a drama I took part in at our annual carol service called Fantasia.
“The Carol was completely FREE for everyone. The tickets were free. Because I’m a celebrity doesn’t make me human? I can serve God like the rest of you. So please understand that I’m human, a Christian and I serve in a real church. Thanks.”
The singer’s management also released a statement to clear the air.
The management explained that “All Spyro’s songs are consistently decent, family friendly and can be played anywhere.”
The statement added that “‘Only Fine Girl’ was crafted with the sole purpose of expressing appreciation for mothers, sisters, and spouses worldwide, making it a fitting choice for the drama.”

“Contrary to media claims of it being a ticketed event, we emphatically state that there is no truth in that assertion. The Christmas carol is a longstanding part of the church’s culture, open to both church members and the public without charge. But, registration was required for crowd control.
“We take this opportunity to convey our gratitude to all Spyro fans for your steadfast support. Rest assured, Spyro will continue to produce music that is family-friendly, suitable for all ages, and will consistently express his unwavering love for God in various ways,” the statement read.
