The family of the late labour leader Frank Kokori has announced a committee that would organise a burial for the octogenarian.
Kokori died on December 7, 2023 – the exact day he clocked 80 – after a protracted illness.
Kive Kokori published the burial committee list in a statement on Wednesday on behalf of the family.
The statement reads: “Following the passing to glory of Chief Frank Ovie Kokori, an elder-statesman, renowned pro-democracy activist, Labour Leader extraordinaire and consummate nationalist, a former Secretary General of NUPENG and an APC Chieftain on 7th December 2023.
“Mr Kive Kokori on behalf of the family, after due consultations, wishes to announce the composition of a Burial Planning Committee of distinguished persons. This is to plan a befitting burial for this highly respected, revered, compassionate, selfless and principled Nigerian whose contribution and commitment to the enthronement of democracy in Nigeria is indelible.”

Named in the committee are Archbishop Philip Orovwuje – Chairman, Issa Aremu – Alternate Chairman, Akin Awodeyi-Akinsehinwa – Deputy Chairman (Political), John Odah – Deputy Chairman (Labour), Kayode Komolafe – Deputy Chairman (Media/Civil Society), Elvis Asoro – Secretary, Fred Oghenesivbe – (Member), Alex Agwanwhor – NUPENG Rep (Member), Thompson Ogbodo – NUPENG Rep (Member), Innocent Iyere – NUPENG Rep (Member), Johnson Okoro (Member), and Ese Agiri Esq. (Member).
Others are Felix Ayanruoh – Diaspora Rep (Member) Ebenezer Adurokiya – Media (Member), Ken Omamogho (Member), Elvis Erute (Member), Tobore Ovumedia (Member), Oke Atawoda (Member), Frank Kokori Jnr (Member), Efe Kokori (Member), and Kive Kokori (Member).
“The committee is charged with the responsibility of liaising with the Federal and State Governments, Labour, Corporate Organisations, individuals and other stakeholders with the aim of organizing a befitting burial for this distinguished elder-statesman.
“In due course, the committee will make public, further details regarding the burial including a date after the required consultations,” the statement added.
