Beauty entrepreneur Tara Durotoye has described a former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Ltd Ibukun Awosika as her guardian.
Mrs Durotoye said this in an Instagram post on Wednesday marking the 61st birthday of Mrs Awosika.
Durotoye further said Awosika’s life reflects the saying that one’s existence belongs to the whole community.
“I am celebrating you @ibukunawosika, my guardian, as my mum fondly calls you,” she wrote.
“I heard this quote by George Bernard Shaw, and it encapsulates the person that you are at your core.

“I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community, and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live.
“I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me. It is a sort of splendid torch, which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations. Thank you for the TORCH that you are. Happy Belated Birthday Dec. 24.”
Earlier on December 24, Awosika wrote on Instagram in celebration of her birthday that she was grateful to God.
“Proud Jesus girl! Grateful for the love of God, and His manifested hand upon my life and all that is mine. How can I thank Him enough for the 1st anniversary of my 60th!! And for more than three decades of doing life together with my husband! A million tongues will not be enough to thank you this morning and everyday of my life. ‘ogbeni nija, ki eru o ba o nija’!! Mo Juba re o!!” she wrote.
