Actress Madam Saje has joined others to defend the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) the late Prophet TB Joshua following a three-part damning documentary published on Monday, January 8.
The documentary sparked several reactions on social media and debate amongst celebrities like Madam Saje who weighed in on the matter.
While some spoke in favour of TB Joshua, others tagged the late televangelist guilty of the allegations.
The allegations against TB Joshua include staging miracles, rape, sexual assault and torture.
BBC said it spoke with 16 of Joshua’s former disciples who provided first-hand testimony of sexual assault or rape by Joshua.
However, Madam Saje who defended TB Joshua said the SCOAN founder established a great and enduring legacy and not even the BBC can destroy it with dirty lies.
The actress whose real name is Fausat Balogun said this in an Instagram post on December 8 in which she posted a video of one of Joshua’s sermons.
The actress said that TB Joshua touched many lives and fought a good fight.
She wrote: “So true! You touched many lives, fought a good fight, stood till the end and established a great and enduring legacy. No man or institution can destroy it with dirty lies: not even the BBC! Rest in peace, Joshua. We are and shall always be very proud of you.”
SCOAN has since reacted to the allegations against the prophet.
The church in a statement on Tuesday, said BBC portrayed “roadside journalism” in its documentary, ignoring fairness, balance and objectivity.
“BBC has compromised these lofty principles by descending into fictional narratives and propaganda, thus turning itself into a weapon for a hatchet job as gangsters in the gab of journalism with a destructive ulterior motive for personal gains against a perceived enemy,” the statement said.
Before his death on June 5, 2021, TB Joshua who passed on exactly a week before his 58th birthday, faced a lot of criticism and was tied to so many controversies.
