Abuja-based businesswoman Aisha Achimugu, last week, raised the bar of festivities by hosting a seven-day lavish 50th birthday celebration in the Caribbean Island of Grenada.
The events saw guests alternate between Calivigny Island and Silversand, an exotic five-year-old seven-star luxury resort located at Grand Anse Beach.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was among guests who attended the events which kicked off on January 16.
His presence at the celebration has drawn queries from a section of the public which accused him of abandoning his duties to party.
While Mr Sango-Olu has not publicly commented on his presence at Achimugu’s party, the state government earlier in the week released pictures of the governor meeting Granada’s Prime Minister Dickson Michelle.
A statement from the government added that Sanwo-Olu “also attended some social engagements during his visit” to Grenada.
Achimugu, whose husband Sulaiman Achimugu died in 2020 from COVID-19 complications, is said to have spent nearly $1 million (more than N1 billion) to rent the island for an entire week.
Reports say the cost of a night at the Silversands Resort begins from the sum of $1,060 (N1,378,000) per person.
On the other hand, renting Calvigny Island costs about $30,000 (over N39 million) per night. The prices for the private island can also vary from $30,000 to $165,000 per night — depending on the time of year.

Guests who attended the events were treated to kayaking, swimming, treasure hunting, bonfires, exotic meals, music, and cocktails among others.
Among the musicians who performed at the various events were Kenny G (American saxophonist and composer), Waje, Flavour, Adekunle Gold, Asake and Mr Killa (a Grenada musician).
A website aishaachimugu50th.com was specifically created for the birthday celebration. The website contains details about visa arrangements, standby chauffeurs, travel itineraries, and the closest airport to the event location, among others.
Born on January 22, 1974, Achimigu attended Federal Government Girls Science School, Kuje, Abuja and got a bachelor’s degree in accountancy in 1998 at the University of Jos.
She is the managing director/CEO of Felak Concept Group which began as an engineering firm and has diversified into maritime, consultancy, and environmental waste management among others.
The businesswoman has three children.
Achimugu will also be hosting another birthday party at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on Friday, January 26 at 6 pm. There will also be a dinner party at the International Conference Centre the following day from 8:30 pm.
