Kidnappers of the chairman of Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Philip Aivoji have demanded N200 million ransom.
Mr Aivoji and some other party leaders were taken captive on Thursday, January 25 at the Ogere area of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
They were returning from the party’s stakeholders’ zonal caucus meeting held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
A party member who craved anonymity told The Nation that the kidnappers are demanding N200 million for the release of Aivoji and others.
Lagos PDP publicity secretary Hakeem Amode earlier called on governments and security operatives to expedite efforts and secure Aivoji’s safe return to his family and well-wishers.
“It is disheartening that kidnapping has become a prevalent issue in our country, and the government’s inability to address this menace is deeply concerning.
“The abduction of Aivoji underscores the pressing need for decisive actions from the government and stakeholders to eradicate this menace,” he added.
