The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Adetona will on Saturday, February 3 install the co-chairman of Eko Hospitals Plc Sonny Kuku as the Ogbeni Oja of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
Kuku will be installed at the Oba S. K. Adetona Royal Pavilion, Ijebu-Ode, by 10 am, according to a statement signed by the chairman of the installation planning committee, Fassy Yusuf, and the chairman of finance, Alex Onabanjo.
Kuku was selected by the Awujale last December to occupy the coveted post.
“The holder of Ogbeni Oja chieftaincy title enjoys precedence over any other chief in the palace of the Awujale, and the title is the highest that a freeborn Ijebu male can aspire to hold.
“The Ogbeni Oja acts for the Awujale during interregna and holds the title at the pleasure of the Awujale,” the statement said.

It added that the late Timothy Odutola and Bayo Kuku were the title holders in succession.
The position has been vacant since Kuku died in 2015.
Kuku is the current pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of the University of Benin and a former president of the University of Lagos Alumni Association.
The octogenarian is also the Olor’Ogun of Ijebu-Ode and the current Awujale Council of Chiefs’ chairman.
