Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has paid tribute to the late former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group Abimbola Ogunbanjo.
Mr Ogunbanjo died in a helicopter crash in Southern California, United States on February 9.
He was in the ill-fated helicopter which also had the group chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and first son Chizi onboard.
Osinbajo and Ogunbanjo attended Igbobi College in the Yaba area of Lagos in their secondary school days.
Mourning the former NGX chairman in an Instagram post on Tuesday night, Osinbajo said the deceased was kind and courteous and was only given the highest honour by Igbobi College Old Boys’ Association (ICOBA) a week before his death.

“Bimbo had, only the week before, been awarded the highest honour by our Old Boys’ Association, ICOBA. The year before that, he had been conferred with the rank of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR),” he wrote.
“He stood out as a fresh, informed, and revolutionary voice in the Nigerian capital market, having first served as President of the National Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and then as Group Chair of the Nigerian Exchange PLC.
“We will also remember him for his kindness, unfailing courtesy to all, and that deep, hearty laughter! Our sincere condolences to his wife, Titi, their children, his siblings, and the Ogunbanjo and Kuku families. May the Lord comfort you all and bless the memory of our dear brother and friend.”
