Actor Kunle Remi has explained why he was absent at the premiere of Kunle Afolyan’s Netflix series Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.
Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre is a sequel to the movie Anikulapo released in 2022.
The series premiered at the Balmoral Convention Center in Lagos on Sunday.
While some of the cast like Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, Lateef Adedimeji, Aisha Lawal, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Jide Kosoko and Adebayo Salami attended the premiere, Kunle Remi was visibly absent.
Explaining his reason in an Instagram post on Sunday night, Kunle said he could not attend the event because he was stuck on a movie set.
The 35-year-old shared a video of himself at a movie location writing, “After collecting Royal regalia from kross kulture, to Sarolize the red carpet, I get stuck on set and can’t attend the premiere of ANIKULAPO rise of the spectre.
“I guess we wait for the world premiere Only on Netflix March 1st. See you on screen. Tuduuum!”
Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre trailer was released on Netflix’s official Instagram account on January 30, in which it was announced that the series will be released on March 1.
The one-minute clip shows a series of events surrounding the lead characters Arolake played by Bimbo Ademoye and Saro, played by Kunle Remi and the fate that awaits the latter after he is presumed dead.
However, in the first episode of the series, it is revealed that Saro did not only return from the dead but his character is sent on a mission to kill the twenty persons he resurrected to life using the magical powder obtained from the mystic bird.
The actor was paid N25 million to feature in the series.
Others at the premiere include Owobo Ogunde, Gabriel Afolayan, Eyiyemi Afolayan, Uzee Usman, Tunde Kelani, Monalisa Chinda, Tana Adelana, Ruby Ojiakor, Femi Adebayo, Mo Bimpe and Tobi Makinde.
