Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has appointed retired justice of the Supreme Court Mary Odili as pro-chancellor and chairman of governing council of the Rivers State University (RSU).
Secretary to Rivers State Government Tammy Danagogo made this known in a statement on Monday.
The governor also approved the appointment of a former Super Eagles forward and former Rivers State attorney-general and commissioner of justice Adokiye Amasiemaka as the pro-chancellor and chairman of governing council of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE).
The statement also said Fubara approved the appointment of 10 other persons as members of the RSU governing council.
The appointees include Mela Oforibika, Chukwuma Chinwo, Adata Bio-Briggs, Jonathan Hart and Ngo Martins-Yellowe.
Others are Robinson Ewoh, Nancy Nwankwo, Igoni William-Park and Ogbugbu Barisua.
According to the statement, the governor also approved the appointment of six persons as members of the IAUE governing council.
They include Iboh Okidim, Professor Jason Osai, Professor Ijeoma Akpu, Akabue Ugochukwu, Mmeme Gogo-Adiari and Dominic Sata.
The appointments take immediate effect, the statement added.
