Super Falcons defensive midfielder Deborah Abiodun has reacted to the clash between her teammates and the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon during the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers match on Monday.
The only goal of the two-legged tie came in the early minutes of the first half, with Esther Okoronkwo tapping home from close range after Jennifer Echegini’s clever footwork on the edge of the box.
However, in the closing minutes of the game, Annie Enganemben came on as a substitute for Cameroon while the team was about to launch a free kick into the Nigerian box.
The substitute was seen trying to run towards the Nigerian goal in an attempt to touch the net, raising suspicions of an attempt to use voodoo. She was however stopped by Asisat Oshoala.

Speaking after the match, coach Randy Waldrum said he did not believe in voodoo and was just happy with the team’s victory.
“I don’t believe in voodoo, so I don’t know what all of that was about,” the 67-year-old said.
Abiodun on her part, said: “I’m a local girl, so I understand what happened. We kind of saw it as a point of distraction but we remained focused regardless of whatever they believe in, we believe in God and in Him we stand. So we don’t care about the voodoo.”
Nigeria will play against South Africa or Tanzania in the final round of the qualifiers.
The Banyana Banyana hold a significant advantage going into the Tuesday game following their 3-0 victory in the first leg.
