Actor and filmmaker Uzee Usman has said he is the first northern movie producer to feature Nkem Owoh, Patience Ozokwo and Mr Ibu in an Hausa film.
Uzee said this in a recent interview with QEDNG on the red carpet of Kunle Afolayan’s Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre in which he stated that collaboration of actors from both sectors of the film industry has been his philosophy.
The actor said he has featured Nkem Owoh, popularly known as Osuofia; John Okafor, better known as Mr Ibu; and Patience Ozokwo in some of his movies.
“I’m the first film producer in the north that brought in superstars like Ibu, Osuofia, Patience Ozokwo to come and do an Hausa film.
“The one with Patience was called Asinado Usenada, the one with Osuofia Nkem Owoh was called Maja, that one was a United Nations project. The one with Ibu was called Oga Abuja, so that has been my philosophy, that has been my goal, unity,” he said.
Uzee stars in Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah and Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre.
