Former secretary general of the Commonwealth Emeka Anyaoku on Friday attended an event organised by veteran broadcaster Bimbo Oloyede to raise N100 million for the treatment of cancer.
The fundraiser held at Glover Memorial Hall in Lagos was in honour of her 70th birthday.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was the father of the day at the event while Anyaoku was the chairman.
Also present was former presidential candidate, Peter Obi; former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke; and former minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama among others.
Oloyede, broadcaster and co-ordinator of Lifeline Initiative, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), announced the initiative for cancer treatment in February.
She said the initiative was set up to support cancer research and treatment in public hospitals.

Oloyede said she was inspired to champion the initiative after losing some of her family members to cancer.
According to her, a fundraising committee chaired by the chief executive officer (CEO) of WFM 91.7 Toun Okewale-Sonaiya had already been put in place.
