Spain national team coach, Vincente Del Bosque, has explained why Chelsea striker, Diego Costa, and others will miss out on Euro 2016 in France.
Costa surprisingly missed out of Spain’s provisional squad for Euro 2016 released on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of the season.
Del Bosque told the press during the announcement of the squad that he doesn’t want to risk the fitness of players.
“We’ve evaluated the situation and we didn’t want to have an overload of players who were in an uncertain situation; we preferred not to bring them,” said Del Bosque.
Premier League-based duo Juan Mata and Santi Cazorla were among a high-profile list of absentees that includes Atletico Madrid striker, Fernando Torres.
