Alaba Abbey, the campaign coordinator of Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in Supare, Akoko South West Local Government Area, has been killed.
The politician was shot by unidentified gunmen on Saturday evening at his residence in Supare, reports The Nation.
Mr Abbey was also the ward coordinator for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa campaign organisation foot soldiers (LACO-SF) in Ward 10 of Supare.
Information director of LACO-SF independent council Kayode Fasua condemned the murder of Abbey.
“We urge the police authorities to step up investigations into his gruesome murder and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book,” he said.
Ondo police spokesperson Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said investigation had begun on the incident.
“The state command is aware of the incident but investigation is ongoing to unravel all that happened,” she said.
Abbey was the returning officer for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election held recently in Ondo.
