Comedian Mr Macaroni has said that it is disrespectful for singer Wizkid to call music executive Don Jazzy an influencer.
Mr Macaroni said this in a post on X on Monday after Wizkid threw shade at Don Jazzy, suggesting that he is a social media influencer.
The drama started when Ladipoe, a rapper signed to Don Jazzy’s label, mocked Wizkid for his controversial “hip hop is dead” statement.
“Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip hop is dead’ watching Afrobeat artists go through their own,” Ladipoe wrote on X.
Reacting to Ladipoe’s statement on X on Monday, Wizkid wrote: “Lol. Never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next.”
Reacting, Macaroni said that Don Jazzy is possibly the biggest entertainment influencer in Africa and it is hypocrisy to “say that the context in which he was called an influencer isn’t disrespectful to everything he has done.”
He wrote: “Don Jazzy is perhaps the biggest Entertainment Influencer in Africa. And the beautiful thing is that his influence cuts across. From music, to contents, films, brands etc.
“However, we would all be hypocrites to say that the context in which he was called an influencer isn’t disrespectful to everything he has done and is still doing for the Nigerian Music Industry. An absolute legend.
“He promotes Music Artistes even outside his record label. Gives free advice and visibility to up and coming artists, shows love to everyone irrespective of their status. I am also a beneficiary of his phenomenal influence! Don Baba J!!!! Your Influence Choke!!!”
