The Igbo Studies Association (ISA) will hold its 21st annual international conference from May 8 to 11 with the theme “Ezi Ụ́kpụ́rụ́ ndi Igbo na Odudu Ha: Igbo Values and Leadership in Perspective.”
The three-day event, which holds at Oaklands Hotel, Enugu, Nigeria, will have vice-chancellor, University on the Niger Professor Chinedu Nebo as keynote speaker and Professor Boniface Mbah of the University of Nigeria as the lead paper presenter.
Founded in 1999 in Philadelphia, USA, “ISA is an organization dedicated to the study of all aspects of Igbo life: Culture, history, society, politics, economics, technology, language, etc.,” said Rev Fr Chijioke Azuawusiefe, ISA program director and chair of the 2024 conference.
The association, Dr. Azuawusiefe said, has since held annual academic conferences in the United States and twice in Nigeria (Enugu, 2013 and Owerri, 2017). This year the ISA annual international conference returns to Nigeria for the third time.
In attendance (on-site and virtual) will be close to 200 Igbo and non-Igbo scholars engaged in first-rate scholarship across multiple disciplines and fields and working in more than 50 academic institutions and centres in Africa, North America, and Europe.
