The late Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Lekan Balogun will be buried on June 1, 2024.
The state burial for Oba Balogun is billed to take place at the main bowl of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, PUNCH gathered on Wednesday.
The burial will be followed by the coronation of the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Oba Balogun died on March 14, 2024, at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. He was aged 81.
He ascended his forefathers’ throne two years ago after the death of Oba Saliu Adetunji.
Oba Balogun was presented the staff of office by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on March 11, 2022.
Last month, Ibadan kingmakers forwarded the name of Oba Olakulehin as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland to Makinde through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Also, the newly-built multimillion-naira Olubadan Palace at Oke Aremo in Ibadan North Local Government Area of the state will be inaugurated before the coronation.
