Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle has started a new fashion trend in Nigeria following her recent visit to Africa’s most populous nation.

Meghan accompanied her husband Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, on a three-day visit to Nigeria to promote the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014.

During their visit, Meghan was presented hand woven Aso Oke fabric by the chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Meghan appeared in public wearing a white shirt and the Aso Oke skirt.

A Nigerian fashion brand Regalia by FAL has now termed it “The Meghan Wrap Skirt,” noting that it is “where royalty meets culture”.

The brand also got its ambassador and actress Ireti Doyle to model it.

The Invictus Games which brought the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to Nigeria are aimed at raising funds and supporting serving members of the military as well as veterans to overcome their physical and mental illnesses, which would help them develop a sense of belonging and increase self-esteem.
