An old video of the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) Prophet TB Joshua, and president of Loveworld Incorporated Pastor Chris Oyakhilome together has resurfaced.
Lead pastor of The Refinery Church Int’l Revd Harrison Ayintete shared the video on X on Tuesday, May 28.
The video shows Joshua welcoming Oyakhilome to the church to join in ministering the Holy Spirit to the people.
Joshua has been subjected to criticism over his methods even after his death. The most recent was BBC’s documentary in January.
Ayintete wondered if Joshua’s life was one of slander sold from high places.
Ayintete wrote, “Many things have been said about Late Prophet TB Joshua, I know Prophet Kobus Van Rensburg who I honour greatly till his death spoke highly of the late prophet.
“I often wonder if this man’s life is a story of slander sold from high places. I often wonder if his life is a case study for selling a slander until it sticks.
“We have seen preachers ask people to sow dollars to get blessed, we have seen scandals upon scandals, even with videos yet those preachers remain men of God, what was so different about TB Joshua that folks didn’t let it go?”
Responding to a netizen who said Christians have a responsibility to preach Jesus Christ regardless, Ayintete said, “No one is discussing or invalidating our responsibility.
“I am a pastor and I have been slandered very much. The aim of the post is to critically examine narratives and see the impacts of slander on the acceptance of a ministry.”
Oyakhilome, who had in the past warned his congregation against talking ill about the clergy, did not publicly react to Joshua’s death on June 5, 2021.
