The Nigerian government, through the minister of interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has declared Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha (Sallah) celebration.

In a statement on Friday by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Aishetu Ndayako, the minister congratulated the Muslim Ummah in the country and the diaspora on the occasion of the celebration.

He called on the Muslim Ummah to continue to imbibe the spirit of peace, kindness and sacrifice, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him) and to also use the period to pray for unity, prosperity and the country’s stability.

Tunji-Ojo assured that the administration of President Bola Tinubu was committed to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians.

He advised all Nigerians to take responsibility in the resolve to hand over a prosperous Nigeria to the younger ones.
