Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Enyimba FC, were on Tuesday drawn in the CAF Champions League Group B alongside Zamalek FC of Egypt, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, and ES Setif of Algeria.
Enyimba advanced to group stage of the competition after edging Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia on penalties in the last qualifying round.
The two-time African champions will feature in what looks like the group of death, with Setif and Zamalek also winning the Africa’s elite club prize on two and five occasions respectively.
Enyimba coach, Paul Aigbogun, affirmed the competitive nature of the group when quizzed by reporters.
“I think it’s an okay group,” said Aigbogun.
“There’s no group that is going to be easy at this stage, so for me the draw is okay.
“We have to respect all the teams but we shouldn’t fear any of them.”
The other group, which is Group A, has Al Ahly of Egypt, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia’s Zesco United.
Enyimba forward, Mfon Udoh, is the leading top-scorer in the competition with seven goals.
The first round of group matches will be played on June 17.
