President Bola Tinubu and his son Seyi on Tuesday attended the stage production ‘Abibatu Mogaji: An Opera’ held in honour of the president’s late mother Abibatu Mogaji.
The event took place at the State House Conference Centre.
Tinubu announced plans to invest more in culture and arts to bridge the past and present and create a pathway for the future. He emphasised the importance of the entertainment industry in rekindling history and educating the younger generation.
The event was aimed at recognising Mogaji’s contributions to the country.
Also in attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.
The opera showcased the life and times of Mogaji, highlighting her impact on Nigerian society.
Mogaji died on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the age of 96 in her home at Ikeja, the capital of Lagos State. She was buried at Ikoyi Vaults and Gardens in Lagos.
She was a businesswoman and iya loja of Lagos.
