Singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, has finally addressed the allegation that he filed a petition to the EFCC against his twin brother, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, and their older brother Jude Okoye.
The musician, in a lengthy post on Instagram on Monday addressed to Rudeboy, said he is not envious of his twin.
He captioned it, “An open letter to my twin brother Paul. I will also be addressing the latest EFCC matter about Psquare and our former manager and elder brother Jude before the end of today — it’s time for the fans to hear my side of the story.”
In his letter, Peter made it clear that he wasn’t in competition with his twin, contradicting the narrative that he had been overshadowed in their former group, P-Square.
He said that he also wrote hit songs for the group unlike the narrative Rudeboy gave.
“You never acknowledged the other songs like ‘Get Squared,’ ‘Bizzy Body,’ ‘Personally,’ ‘Roll It,’ ‘Temptation,’ ‘Alingo,’ ‘More Than a Friend,’ ‘Shekini,’ ‘Say Your Love,’ ‘Gimme Dat,’ ‘Senorita,’ ‘Igbedu,’ and a few others. Were these songs also considered failures as well?” Peter asked.
He expressed his frustration that Rudeboy often spoke in interviews as if he was the sole contributor to their success, while he always used the pronouns “we” and “us” to emphasise their partnership.
Reflecting on the past, Mr. P expressed regret for not responding to Rudeboy’s claims in April 2015 where the latter stated that he wrote all P-Square songs, choosing silence for the sake of peace.
He also addressed how his twin allegedly teamed up with Jude, pushing him aside.
“Rather than joining forces with me to reclaim our number 1 spot in the music industry, chose to team up with Jude to claim the number 1 spot in the P-square group, always looking for opportunities to marginalize and humiliate me,” he said.
The singer reminded his brother that none of them is bigger than P-Square. “Is Rudeboy or Mr P bigger and more successful than P-Square today?” he asked.
Mr P stressed he would address the EFCC part of the allegations later in the day.
