Senator Ned Nwoko (PDP, Delta North) has hailed Prof Epiphany Azinge on his emergence as the Asagba of Asaba.
Nwoko, chairman of Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, urged him to use his wealth of experience for the development of Asaba under his reign.
In a congratulatory message on Wednesday, the lawmaker said he was optimistic that Azinge’s selection for the throne would bring good tidings to Asaba which doubles as a kingdom and capital of the Delta State.
He also praised Azinge’s career and the respect he commands among the Anioma people, saying, “Your appointment as the new Asagba is a proof to your remarkable achievements and the high regard in which you are held.”
The Asagba-in-Council on Sunday, August 18 announced Azinge’s selection to the role.
Azinge is a professor of law and former director general of the Nigeria Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.
Nwoko added, “Your ascension to the throne transcends personal achievement; it represents a historic, cultural, and deeply rooted milestone that embodies the essence of Asaba’s heritage and traditions. Your leadership comes at a crucial time, and I am confident that you will continue to uphold and enhance the traditions and values that have made Asaba a beacon of cultural and administrative excellence.”
