The 22nd Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has retired after reaching the retirement age of 70.
A valedictory court session was held in his honour on Thursday at the Supreme Court which was well attended.
Ariwoola was born on August 22, 1954.
On November 22, 2011, he was elevated to the bench of the Supreme Court and was appointed CJN on June 27, 2022.
His appointment as chief justice followed the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammad.
Ariwoola was formally confirmed CJN by the Senate on September 21, 2022.
Ariwoola exits the office of the CJN after two years and 13 years on the bench of the apex court.
He is expected to be succeeded by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.
