Airport worker who returned money in Kano

An airport worker Auwal Dankode has returned $10,000 (N16 million) he found on an aircraft during routine cleaning at the Malam Aminu International Airport, Kano.

Mr Dankode is an employee of the Nigeria Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO).

He told SolaceBase that he found the money on an Egypt airline aircraft that landed at about 1.30 pm on Wednesday.

‘’I was conducting a routine cleaning of the aircraft that had just landed when I saw the money in an envelope,” he said, adding that he swiftly reported it.

Dankode said the owner of the money turned out to be a man.

The indigene of Kode in Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State said many people at the airport carried him shoulder high for reporting what he found.

“Returning what does not belong to me to the rightful owner is nothing to me because that was the training we got from home. But I am excited when I know the value and the owner who does not understand Hausa as he spoke Arabic was so happy that he hugged me many times,” he said.
