Actress Ekene Umenwa has shared a Virgin Mary inspired post announcing the birth of her first child to movie producer Ifeanyi Ogbodo.
Umenwa shared a video on Instagram on Monday, showcasing her maternity shoot, dressed as the Virgin Mary.
In the post, the actress expressed her gratitude to God for guiding her through her pregnancy.
She also revealed that a vision she received inspired her to choose the Virgin Mary’s attire for the shoot.
“I am truly blessed by the Lord’s mercy. My pregnancy journey was a wonderful experience, and I give praise to the Blessed Trinity and honour to our Mother Mary, who stood by me throughout,” Umenwa wrote.
She further explained, “In my humble attempt to honour her maternal care and intercession, I was inspired by a vision she gave me while praying at the grotto.
“It brings me immense joy to dress as Mother Mary, whom I hold dear. Although I feel unworthy to stand in her presence, her mercy has touched me deeply.”
This isn’t the first time Umenwa has been in the spotlight for her religious devotion.
In November 2023, she faced criticism after a viral video showed her leaving her husband during their wedding ceremony to kneel before gospel singer Moses Bliss, who made a surprise appearance.
Three months after their wedding, Umenwa relocated abroad with her husband.
