Estranged parents of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, have caused a stir on social media after a video surfaced showing Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, seemingly snubbing the singer’s mother at the Magistrate Court.
The footage, taken during the coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death at the Ikorodu Magistrate Court, shows the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, seemingly ignoring his late son’s mother when she greeted him.
Instead of responding, Aloba briefly tapped her arm without making eye contact or saying a word.
Both parents have been at odds since the tragic death of their son, which has deepened tensions. Aloba has raised suspicions of foul play involving his late son’s widow, Wunmi, and has requested a DNA test on his grandchild to confirm the child’s paternity.
Meanwhile, Mohbad’s mother initially sided with Wunmi, but their relationship has since deteriorated.
The inquest, which began on September 29, 2023, aims to uncover the truth behind Mohbad’s mysterious death. The singer died on September 12, 2023, under unclear circumstances, and was buried the following day.
However, his body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy conducted by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). The results of the autopsy revealed “no significant gross finding,” leaving the exact cause of death uncertain.
Unconvinced by the autopsy results, Mohbad’s family has called for an independent investigation to provide more clarity.
Conspicuously absent from the court proceedings were singer Naira Marley and his associate Sam Larry, who had been summoned as key witnesses but did not appear.
