Skit maker Samuel Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, has opened up about a near-death experience he faced shortly before celebrating his 31st birthday.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the skit maker expressed deep gratitude to God for sparing his life.
Shaggi who typically avoids birthday celebrations shared that this year felt different due to the life-threatening incident he recently faced.
Though he refrained from revealing specific details, he emphasised that being alive was his greatest gift.
“Birthdays have never really been my thing. In fact, I usually switch off my phone to avoid birthday calls and messages,” he wrote.
“Only a few close people know that Broda Shaggi is not Samuel, but that’s a story for another day.”
He continued, “This birthday is different because I came close to losing my life, but God gave me another chance. The photoshoot for this celebration was done just last night.
“Today, I am happy, grateful, and honored. I know people who share the same birthday as me who aren’t here to celebrate. I’m no different, but God spared me for a reason.”
Broda Shaggi also encouraged his fans to listen to his newly released birthday song, calling it his ultimate birthday gift to himself and urging others to enjoy it as well.
“If you’d like to gift me something, just stream the song. It’s available on all music platforms.”
A graduate of creative arts from the University of Lagos, Shaggi first gained widespread recognition through his comedy skits and has since featured in several films and TV shows.
