Afrobeat sensation Davido has voiced opposition to the advice for voters to return home immediately after casting their ballots in the ongoing Edo State gubernatorial election.

The ‘Fem’ hitmaker shared his views on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday in response to a statement made by Frank Mba, the Deputy Inspector General of Police overseeing election security.

He wrote, “Loooooooool go where ???”

In a subsequent post he added, “Bruh @inecnigeria fix up we can’t continue like this .. wtf”

In an interview with Channels Television earlier, Mba urged Edo State residents to exercise their civic duty by voting and then returning home immediately.

He also announced a restriction on vehicular movement throughout the state from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day.

Mba emphasised, “If you’re not accredited to participate in the election, you shouldn’t be on the streets. Cast your vote and return home; that’s your civic duty.”

Davido, who has shown support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), expressed his disagreement with the recommendation, suggesting that voters should stay around after voting, rather than immediately going home.
