It started at 11:21hrs on June 5, 2016 when Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Technology Times, Shina Badaru, shared a thought about fuel black marketers on Facebook.
The University of Lagos Mass Communication graduate simply wanted to know what happens to the guys who hawk fuel in jerry cans once scarcity is over.
No sooner had Mr Badaru posted his thought on his timeline than Founder of The Journalism Clinic, Taiwo Obe, came up with an idea for a competition for journalists.
According to Mr Obe, interested journalists should “present an insightful, delightful multimedia story which takes us into Nigeria’s ‘fuel black market.’”
The competition, he says, “is open to all Nigerian journalists, freelance or those working full-time, and must be submitted on or before midnight on 9 July 2016.
“We expect the story to answer Mr Badaru’s question and more. Yes, extend it to the petrol stations’ attendants.
“The star prize is N50,000 and a smartphone, while there are two consolation prizes of N25,000 and a smartphone each.”
Winners will also get plaques courtesy of Technology Times.
Entries should be sent to founder@thejournalismclinic.com.
