Bobrisky debunks bribery allegations amid EFCC probe

Crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky has denied recent claims by activist VeryDarkMan that he bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

VeryDarkMan on Tuesday shared a video online of Bobrisky’s recorded phone call allegedly admitting to bribing EFCC officials with N15 million to dismiss money laundering charges against him.

In response to the activist’s claims, the EFCC extended invitations to both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to assist in an official investigation.

The commission’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede, also ordered an immediate inquiry into the allegations.

“The EFCC’s boss has swiftly constituted a team of investigators to critically examine the bribery allegations.

“Both Okuneye and Otse are invited to the Commission’s Lagos Directorate to assist investigators in unearthing the truth,” read part of the EFCC’s statement.

The agency assured the public that the investigation would be thorough, with its findings to be made public.

However on Wednesday, Bobrisky took to Instagram to refute the claims, dismissing the viral recording as “fake” and asserting that he did not pay any bribe to the EFCC.

“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating online, claiming I paid the EFCC N15 million and that I was never in prison,” Bobrisky wrote.

“This is a lie. I served my full prison term and did not pay any money. Discard any false information.”

Bobrisky was released from prison on August 5 after serving a six-month sentence, which began on April 12, for the abuse of the Nigerian currency.
