Actor Yomi Fabiyi has shared that he fled the country following an alleged assassination attempt related to his involvement in seeking justice for the late singer, Mohbad.
In a recent Instagram post, Yomi stated that he had reported the incident to the relevant authorities and vowed to continue his efforts to uncover the truth behind Mohbad’s mysterious death on September 12, 2023.
The actor has been an advocate, leading protests to demand justice for the late singer.
“I had to jump on the next available flight because I have been marked for assassination. For the first time in my life, I feel they are going to take my life,” Yomi said.
He further emphasised his commitment to assisting the authorities in their investigation, adding, “I have provided all the information I have to the police.
“I just beg that nothing happens to the sources I mentioned. The CCTV must be investigated, and phone forensic analysis is essential.”
The actor expressed concern that his death would derail the case.
“It’s not that I’m afraid of being killed, but I know my death would cause a serious distraction and halt the progress of the case. Nigerians, I don’t know where I’m heading, but I’m 80% safe,” he shared.
In a viral video, Yomi disclosed that he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt during a recent protest.
“I escaped an assassination attempt two days ago. They tried to get me at the protest, planning to kill me that night,” Yomi explained.
“If they had succeeded, they would have buried me the next day, killing me mercilessly for fighting for justice. I didn’t collect money from anyone. I’m just fighting for what’s right. I had to run for my life because I can’t risk becoming a victim.”
