Hadiza El-Rufai, wife of former governor of Kaduna State, has teased that she would switch to Pidgin English to avoid being bashed on the day she makes a grammar mistake on social media.

Mrs El-Rufai recently made the headlines when she corrected Senator Shehu Sani’s grammar on X (formerly Twitter).

Sani has been having a running battle with ex-governor Nasir El-Rufai which has extended to the latter’s family.

Last Saturday, Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the eighth assembly, made a post about President Bola Tinubu.

In the post, he said that Tinubu’s travelling out of the country has a way of affecting taxes and prices of commodities.

‘’New law of economics; when the President travels out, taxes and prices goes up,” he wrote.

Mrs El-Rufai, who regularly corrects people’s grammar on X, spotted the former lawmaker’s post and wrote ‘’go up”.

El-Rufai reacted on Sunday: “I unfollowed you and you unfollowed me. And you still de hang around me. Mummy, leave me alone abeg.”

The issue generated tons of reactions from social media users.

On Tuesday, however, in a move many see as a way to douse the tension, the former governor’s wife teased that she would begin writing in Pidgin English.

“De day I make a grammar mistake here, I go hear am. Make I kuku ma dey write in Pidgin,” she wrote.

In another post, she thanked all for their corrections on her use of Pidgin English.
