Bobrisky detained in women’s cell at Alagbon

Crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, is reportedly being held in a women’s cell at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State.

He was arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in the early hours of Monday at Seme Border while allegedly trying to flee the country.

The crossdresser was taken to the FCID, Alagbon, around 10 p.m. on Monday for “safekeeping”.

On Tuesday, FCID spokesperson Mayegun Aminat told PUNCH that the police would get a remand order to keep him in custody.

The newspaper reported that a source, who pleaded anonymity, said Bobrisky is being held in a female cell.

“Everybody is conscious of the fact that Bobrisky could be gay and nobody wants to be part of a scandal. If you put him among males, anything can happen and you cannot put him among females. So, they gave him a cell alone and the cell is around the female section and they didn’t have any female inmate around that cell,” the source said.

Bobrisky has been under investigation by a committee of the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

The allegations centre on bribery and misconduct.

Earlier on Monday, social media personality VeryDarkMan posted a video on Instagram stating that Bobrisky had been arrested.

According to him, the crossdresser attempted to flee to Benin Republic to avoid appearing at the House of Representatives’ investigative hearing.

Bobrisky was scheduled to appear before lawmakers on Monday.

The hearing stems from a leaked audio recording shared by VeryDarkMan in which Bobrisky allegedly admitted to paying N15 million to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges against him.

Bobrisky also allegedly claimed that despite being convicted for naira abuse he avoided serving a six-month jail sentence at the Kirikiri facility due to the influence of a “godfather”.

Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan were to appear before lawmakers for questioning on September 30. While VeryDarkMan was present, Bobrisky was represented by his lawyer.
