Actress Chioma Ifemeludike has weighed in on her colleague Halima Abubakar’s apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman, raising questions about her sincerity.
In a post on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Chioma asked Halima to explain what she was apologising for.
She wrote, “What exactly is Halima Abubakar apologising for? Is it that she didn’t date him, or that he didn’t cause the health issues she dragged him for years over, including evidence of her swollen stomach?”
Chioma expressed dissatisfaction with the brevity of Halima’s apology, suggesting that years of accusations against Suleman couldn’t be resolved with “a few short lines.”
She added, “We need clarity. I hope the apology wasn’t made under pressure.”
Chioma further alleged that Suleman was more concerned with redeeming his public image than true repentance.
“Instead of genuinely seeking the face of God, he’s just trying to clean up the mess he made,” she said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Halima posted a public apology letter to Suleman on Instagram, retracting the allegations she made against him which included claims of being inflicted with a life-threatening illness and suffering multiple miscarriages.
She hoped the apology would lead to his forgiveness.
In response, the cleric stated that people should stop contacting him, adding, “Forgiveness is not memory loss.”
Halima’s apology follows years of controversy including a lawsuit filed by Suleman in 2022.
In April, the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja ordered Halima to pay N10 million in damages for defaming the preacher.
