Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has congratulated Bianca Ojukwu, widow of Biafra leader Odumegwu Ojukwu, on her nomination as minister of state for foreign affairs.

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu announced her nomination and that of six others as ministers in his first cabinet shuffle since coming to power last year.

According to a release by the Presidency, others appointed are Nentawe Yilwatda (minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (minister of labour and employment), Jumoke Oduwole (minister of industry, trade and investment (trade and investment)), Idi Maiha (minister of livestock development), Yusuf Ata (minister of state, housing and urban development) and Suwaiba Ahmad (minister of state, education).

Congratulating Ojukwu who is Nigeria’s former ambassador to Spain, Murray-Bruce posted on social media a throwback photo of himself and the ex-beauty queen, stating that her nomination was well-deserved.

“Heartiest congratulations to the exceptional Bianca Ojukwu on your well-deserved appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs,” he wrote.

“Your trailblazing journey from beauty pageantry to international diplomacy is a testament to your grace, intelligence, and dedication to our great nation. Wishing you continued success as you bring your vision to the next level.”
