Actress Yvonne Jegede has gone bald for her role in the upcoming film Aja.
Yvonne shared a video on Sunday on her Instagram page showing her visit to the salon to have her hair shaved off.
She explained, “I have always believed that to tell a story authentically, you must be willing to give everything to the role—even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone.
“This belief guided my decision to cut my hair for my ongoing movie, AJA. It wasn’t an easy decision, but for me, it was necessary to fully embody the character I’ve been entrusted to bring to life.”
The movie, produced by Titi Orire, is being filmed in Badagry.
The cast includes Rotimi Fakunle, Bianca Ugowanne and Gbohunmi David along with a special appearance from a “major industry name” that “promises to thrill audiences,” according to …
The actress said her decision to go bald wasn’t just about changing her appearance but about connecting with the character on a deeper level.
“For this role, I knew I had to go beyond just the dialogue and emotions; I needed to make a physical transformation. Cutting my hair wasn’t just about changing my appearance; it was about shedding my comfort and embracing a new side of myself for the story,” she said.
Yvonne noted that this move also reflects her dedication to her craft.
“Acting is serious to me, and I believe in fully immersing myself in every role. AJA is a unique project that will challenge me, and I’m ready to give it everything I have,” she said.
Yvonne’s decision has drawn mixed reactions from fans, with some applauding her dedication to her craft and others expressing reservations.
