Politician Kayode Salako has addressed rumour surrounding his marital life, clarifying that his wife Foluke Daramola, an actress, was involved in his decision to marry a second wife.
The couple has been married for 13 years but has not had children together.
In a Facebook post on Sunday titled “Foluke is involved!”, Salako shared insights into their relationship, stating that he spent years seeking Foluke’s understanding about his desire to have children who will be with him in Nigeria.
He explained, “It took me 3 years of begging Foluke Daramola-Salako, my wife, to allow me to have at least one or two children here in Nigeria, for the security of my old age.”
Salako expressed his hopes of living a life surrounded by family, noting his love for children and desire for companionship in his later years.
The former chairman of Labour Party (Lagos chapter) further explained how Foluke eventually agreed to his request, thanks in part to the involvement of her mother.
Following this, Salako met Oluwafunke Salako, who is now his second wife and the mother of their young son, Murewa Salako.
He elaborated on his current family arrangement, describing how Foluke and Funke share a close relationship, even celebrating Murewa’s milestones together.
Salako also clarified that his older children reside in America with their mother, making Murewa the only child with him in Nigeria.
Reflecting on his journey, he said, “Foluke has been involved from the beginning. This happened with her understanding and permission. I want to live and die surrounded by my children.”
In 2023, Foluke was accused of breaking up Salako’s former marriage, a claim she denied.
She acknowledged, however, that her husband is a polygamist with children from various relationships.
The couple got married in 2010.
